Defense Minister: Iran Boosting Deterrent Power

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has successfully implemented a strategy to maintain and boost its deterrent power, Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said.

“We’ve managed to put the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategy into practice, which is preserving and upgrading the deterrent power, and (gain the capability) to respond to the enemy’s act of aggression instantly and vigorously,” Brigadier General Hatami said on Sunday.

The minister added that the enemies have acknowledged the Islamic Republic’s true power, credibility, resolve, and stability in protecting its national security.

The fact that people decide their own fate in the Islamic Republic of Iran is very disappointing and costly for the enemies, Hatami added.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

In February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time.
