Iranian President Congratulates Kazakhstan on Independence Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the Kazakh people and government on the anniversary of the Central Asian country’s Independence Day.

In a message to his Kazakh counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on Monday, Rouhani felicitated the 28th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence and hailed the growing relations between Tehran and Nur-Sultan (Astana).

“In the light of joint efforts, I hope to see continuation of consultations and further expansion of the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Kazakhstan in bilateral, regional and international arenas,” he stated.

Rouhani also wished Tokayev health and success and the Kazakh people and government glory.

In recent years, Teheran and Nur-Sultan have shown eagerness to expand bilateral relations in various fields.

Kazakhstan’s Day of Independence is celebrated annually on 16 December.

Kazakhstan was the last of the Soviet republics to declare independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
