Iran President Slams ‘Despicable’ Deal of Century
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani denounced his US counterpart’s plan for Palestine as a disgraceful and despicable plot against the world Muslims.
The president and his cabinet members visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran on Sunday to reaffirm allegiance to the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic Republic during the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) celebrations marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution’s victory.
In comments during the visit, Rouhani called for resistance to the acts of aggression from the enemies of Muslims.
Taking a swipe at the aggressors for cruelty to the world Muslim and to the Palestinian nation, he said the US president has proposed the “disgraceful and despicable deal of the century” which would go down in history as an absolute disgrace.
“We have no option but to resist and stand against the aggressors,” Rouhani underlined.
He further hailed the Iranian nation’s perseverance in the face of the unprecedented sanctions over the past two years, saying people of Iran believe that the Islamic establishment is on the right track and reject the policy of surrender and humiliation.
“While we disapprove of the policy of tension and confrontation, our people are mindful that today there is no way but resistance and fortitude vis- -vis the aggressors,” he said.
The president also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursuing the goals of Imam Khomeini under the guidance of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
“We should not take hope, unity and vitality from the people. We will undoubtedly emerge victorious in this stage,” Rouhani concluded.
