Iranian Freestyler Yadollah Mohebbi Secures Olympics Spot
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Yadollah Mohebbi has been awarded an Olympic berth after Badkha Syria’s Khutaba and Khasanboy Rakhimov from Uzbekistan failed anti-doping tests at the 2019 Wrestling World Championships in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.
Up at 125kg, Egzon Shala of Kosovo and Iran's Yadollah Mohebbi now occupy places in the top six and therefore secure an Olympic spot.
A further 10 Tokyo 2020 spots in each wrestling division remain up for grabs.
Two will be earned at a world qualifier, two at the European qualifier, two at the Asian qualifier, two at a qualifier for both Africa and Oceania and two at a qualifying event for the Americas.
There will be 18 gold medals awarded in wrestling at Tokyo 2020.
