Public Health Operations to Replace National Army Day Parades in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Instead of holding commemorative parades to celebrate the Army Day and the Ground Force Day on April 17, the military units will carry out nationwide health operations this year to assist the medical society in the battle with the coronavirus, a ranking commander said.
Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced at a press conference on Tuesday that the “Health Assistants Parade” will be substituted for the military parades on the Army Day this year.
He noted that the Army has devised plans to prevent any gathering of people in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus, and is going to carry out the alternative plan for military parades in all provinces of the country in order to help the medical staff in the battle with COVID-19.
Highlighting the measures taken by the military forces after the outbreak of coronavirus, the commander said the Armed Forces set up a Biodefense Headquarters and offered extensive services to treat the patients.
Rear Admiral Sayyari also noted that the Army is going to provide further assistance for the Health Ministry by deploying workforce and will also promote plans for disinfection of cities.
In a message on Monday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said the military forces have played a significant role in the fight against the coronavirus by disinfecting public places, screening people, producing various medical supplies, setting up hospitals and convalescent homes and providing a range of health services.
The Armed Forces will spare no efforts to help the medical staff and will stand by the country’s health society in protecting the lives of people, the top general added.
