Plans Ready for British Parliamentary Delegation's Visit to Iran: MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A prominent Iranian legislator said the necessary planning and arrangements have been done for the British parliamentary delegation's upcoming visit to Tehran.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday, Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the rapporteur of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, confirmed the visit, adding that the necessary plannings and coordination have been done for the visit.

He said he has no information about details of the British delegation's visit, but at the same time noted that the British MPs will hold the whole meetings during their stay in Tehran within the framework of a definite and agreed plan.

Earlier on Friday, Iran’s non-resident Chargé d’affaires to Britain Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh announced that former British foreign secretary and a present member of the British parliament, Jack Straw, is expected to visit Iran in early January.

Straw, heading a British parliamentary delegation, will pay a three-day official visit to the country, where he is also planned to hold meetings with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi and a number of other Iranian officials.

The visit came a few weeks after an eight-member delegation from the European Parliament (EP) visited Iran’s capital of Tehran and held talks with a number of senior Iranian officials.

The visiting delegation, led by Tarja Cronberg of Finland, was comprised of eight MEPs representing different European parties, including socialists and democrats.
