TEHRAN (Tasnim) – One person was killed early on Monday when a gas cylinder exploded in a Dubai restaurant, local media reported.

Abu Dhabi-owned the National, quoting a Dubai Civil Defence spokesperson, added the blast had caused a blaze that damaged the ground floor of the building, Reuters reported.

The fire was controlled within 33 minutes, it said.

A number of people were also injured in another gas blast in central Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The KFC and Hardee's restaurants and other retail outlets on Airport Road appeared to have been gutted in an image shared by the force.

Part of the Hazza Bin Zayed Road, which was connected to the Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road), was temporarily closed to traffic, police said in an alert posted on Twitter.

Residents said they heard an explosion, which sent debris across the road in front of the building, shortly after 10 am.
