‘Habitual Liar’ Pushing Trump into ‘Mother of All Quagmires’: Iran’s Zarif
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo - the “habitual liar” - is trying to sucker Donald Trump into “mother of all quagmires” by raising false alarm over an alleged assassination plot against the US ambassador to South Africa, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.
“The habitual liar bamboozled @realdonaldtrump into assassinating ISIS' enemy #1 by raising a false alarm. Now he's trying to sucker him into mother of all quagmires by leaking a new false alarm. -Politico source: ‘US officials’ -Trump source: ‘press reports’ Time to wake up,” Zarif tweeted late on Tuesday.
The Iranian foreign minister was referring to a recent report by Politico news magazine that cited unnamed US officials as claiming Iran was weighing to assassinate Lana Marks before the American presidential election in November.
To double down on his assertion that the US secretary of state was a liar, Zarif also attached to his tweet the photo of Pompeo, a former CIA director, who admitted to an audience last year that the American spy agency trained employees to “lie, cheat and steal.”
In a tweet on Monday, Trump referred to “press reports” that Iran “may be planning an assassination, or other attack, against the United States” to avenge the assassination of General Soleimani in Iraq in January.
Trump further said, “Any attack by Iran, in any form, against the United States will be met with an attack on Iran that will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude!”
