Iran to Send Envoy to Medina to Study Cause of Pilgrims' Plane Incident

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) said it plans to send a representative to Saudi Arabia to study the emergency landing of a Saudi plane in Medina airport with about 300 Iranian pilgrims on board.

“According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) law and its annexation 13, since the plane belongs to a Saudi airline company and its passengers were Iranians, a representative from the Civil Aviation Organization is necessary to take part in the investigation into the incident," Deputy Head of CAO for Flight Standard Hamid Habibi said on Sunday.

He said the organization will conduct necessary communication with the relevant Saudi officials about the issue.
