Foreign Tourists Rescued in Central Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society's rescue and relief teams saved four foreign tourists who were caught in a snow storm in a desert area in the Iranian central province of Isfahan.

The two couples were part of a group of 6 foreign cyclists from Ecuador, France and Switzerland who had entered Iran through the country’s border with Turkey and planned to go to Yazd province, but caught in a snow storm in Gaav Khouni salt marsh region.

Ali Mohammad Hashemi, head of Isfahan's Red Crescent Society said Saturday that the two couples from Switzerland and Ecuador were saved last Tuesday after several hours of rescue operation.

Later, they were transferred to the city of Varzaneh , he said, adding that the four cyclist tourists have left for Yazd province after the weather conditions got favorable.
