Iranian Parliament Committee to Supervise Implementation of Geneva Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission established an expert committee to supervise the implementation of the Geneva nuclear deal signed between Iran and the six world powers on November 24.

Speaking to Tasnim on Tuesday, Rapporteur of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said the supervisory team will be headed by the chairman of the commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

He said the parliament has decided to establish the expert team "in order to ease concerns of the members of the parliament and National Security Commission over mechanisms of the implementation of the Geneva deal."

Naqavi Hosseini added that the decision also removes concerns about "moves and inspections by the experts and inspectors of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)."

He noted that in addition to its chairman, the team will include three chairmen of the expert committees of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

The landmark nuclear deal, reached in Geneva last November, came into force on January 20, with the two sides took balanced, proportional steps in a period of six months to pave the way for a final solution.

Iran and Group 5+1 (the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany) have earlier reached an agreement to start implementing the Geneva nuclear deal on January 20.
