Coronavirus in Iran: Some 6,700 Patients at Hospital ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, around 6,700 are in the intensive care units of hospitals, the Health Ministry said.

The ministry said on Monday that 6,707 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 117,526, as 344 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 17,397 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 2,593 of them hospitalized, it added.

The Health Ministry also said more than 4,792,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,442,000 sick people.

The Ministry said that more than 30.3 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 14.12 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 229 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.7 million.
