Palestinians Protest against Eviction of Family from Sheikh Jarrah (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Protesters held a rally in East Jerusalem al-Quds on Friday to protest the planned deportation of a Palestinian family from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the coming weeks.

Israeli police officers used tear gas to disperse family members and supporters who rallied in solidarity with the family while holding signs and Palestinian flags.

The eviction order handed to the Salem family has been delayed and will likely be reissued in January 2022.

The Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has become a strong point of resistance for Palestinian locals who protest over the ownership of their properties in the East Jerusalem Al-Quds neighborhood.

 

 

More than 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East al-Quds.

All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law as they are built on occupied land. The United Nations Security Council has condemned Israel’s settlement activities in the occupied territories in several resolutions.
