Iran, Azerbaijan Agree to Expedite Implementation of Joint Projects

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan discussed plans to speed up efforts to carry out the agreements and joint projects that the two neighbors have already agreed upon.

In a telephone conversation on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Azeri counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov talked about the latest regional developments and weighed plans for the promotion of cooperation between Tehran and Baku in various fields.

Pointing to the bilateral deals and the joint construction projects between the two nations, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian called for efforts to implement the previous agreements immediately.

He also praised the Republic of Azerbaijan for extraditing a group of Iranian inmates, expressing hope that the two neighbors would soon hold a meeting of the Joint Consular Commission in Baku.

Amirabdollahian further referred to an upcoming visit that Iran’s parliamentary friendship group will pay to Baku, hoping that the parliamentary cooperation between the two neighbors would enhance in parallel with their ties in the other fields.

For his part, Bayramov hailed the results of a meeting that the presidents of the two countries had held in November 2021, stressing the need to carry out the agreements and implement the joint projects between the two neighbors.

He also unveiled plans to convene the meetings of the Joint Economic Commission and Joint Consular Commission in the near future.
