Iran Claims Title of Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran won the 2022 Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship title in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The Iranian wrestling team finished in first place with 179 points.

India became runner-up with 151 points and Kazakhstan finished in third place with 149 points.

On the last day of the competition, Iran won three gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

Younes Emami defeated Nurkozha Kaipanov from Kazakhstan 5-2 in the final bout of 74kg and seized a gold medal.

Amirhossein Firouzpour beat Mongolian Orgilokh Dagvadorj 11-0 in the final match of the 92kg.

And Yadollah Mohebi claimed a gold medal in 125kg, beating Kazakhstan’s Alisher Yergali 3-1 in the final.

Dariush Hazratgholizadeh seized a silver after being defeated by Japanese wrestler Rei Higuchi 10-0 in the final match of the 61kg.

Mohsen Mostafavi also won a bronze medal by defeating Korean Gwanuk Kim 4-0 in the 86kg.

On Saturday, Rahman Amouzad Khalili in the 65kg, Ali Savadkouhi in the 79kg and Mohammad Hossein Askari Mohammadian in the 97kg had won three gold medals for Iran.
