Iranian Envoy Brands Israel as Main Source of Insecurity

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Turkey denounced the Zionist regime as the primary source of insecurity in the region and the biggest violator of human rights in the world.

Iran’s ambassador to Turkey, Mohammad Farazmand, attended a meeting at Ankara’s Haci Bayram Mosque on Thursday, held in commemoration of the International Quds Day.

Slamming the Zionist regime as the main source of insecurity and the biggest threat to regional peace and security, the Iranian envoy said, “The (Zionist) regime is the biggest violator of human rights in the world, and is the only regime in the region in possession of tens of nuclear warheads.”

Reminding the international community of its duty to end discrimination, silence and double standards in dealing with the Israeli regime, Farazmand called for collective efforts to end the occupation of Palestine and fulfill the Palestinian people’s rights.

The ambassador finally condemned the Zionist regime’s “lunatic move” to violate the holy Muslim sites in the month of Ramadan, stressing that Palestine will remain as the Islamic community’s overriding concern until the full liberation of the Palestinian territories.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.
