Life of Hazrat Fatima (SA) Depicted in Seven-Stage Play

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A seven-chapter play depicting the life of Hazrat Fatima (SA), daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), premiered on Saturday at Osveh Hall of the Art Bureau of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization (IIDO) here in Tehran.

A major all-women troupe directed by director and writer Maryam Shabani is staging the play "Fatima" to mark Hazrat Fatima (SA) on her martyrdom anniversary, which fell on the last days of December.

"The play is being presented in the lecture performance style, which is widely used around the world, and we have done our best to adapt the style to our culture by adding some of our own local visual attractions," Shabani told Honaronline's Persian service.

"Islam places a high value on women's spiritual and social independence, and we worked hard to tailor the set to women's feelings and attitudes through lighting, sound design, and color," she explained.

"The first stage indicates why this lady was born, and the second stage demonstrates the impact of her mother Hazrat Khadijah (SA) on her life," Shabani added.

"The third stage depicts her marriage and companionship with Imam Ali (AS), as well as their determination to follow the Prophet of Islam in his mission," she added.

"The fourth stage focuses on the Battle of Uhud and the Devil's military expedition, while the fifth stage depicts women's roles in the Prophet's wars against non-believers, the sixth stage focuses on Hazrat Fatima's economic and social significance, while the last stage highlights her auspiciousness on the Day of Judgment," she stated.

Shabani revealed plans to stage "Fatima" in Arab and European countries as well.

"Because the play focuses on women's roles and their superior place in the universe, it is a global subject that is likely to draw a large audience; hence, we want to stage it in additional countries."

Last year, the drama was staged at Osveh Hall, Shams Eyvan, and the Tehran Theater Complex.

A play brochure contains a brief summary that states, "A girl named Fatima comes from heaven to save the Earth from darkness while Lucifer begins a war to hinder her purpose."
