2 Afghan Civilians Killed in Suicide Bomb Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Two Afghan civilians were killed while five others wounded in a suicide bombing that targeted a police convoy in the country's northern province of Kunduz on Saturday, authorities said.

"A suicide bomber riding a motorcycle detonated his explosive close to a police convoy in Pul-e-Muhib area of Khan Abad district at around 10:20 local time. Two bystanders were killed and five civilians were wounded as a result of the blast," the district governor Hayatullah Amiri told Xinhua.

One police vehicle was damaged in the explosion but no police officer of the convoy was hurt in the district

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but the Taliban insurgent group was likely behind such attacks.

About 2,900 civilians were killed and nearly 5,700 wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks in the war-torn country last year, according to UN mission officials.
