Passenger Plane Crashes in Afghanistan's Badakhshan Province

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A passenger plane crashed in the mountainous region of Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan, as reported by Tolo news agency.

The incident happened on Sunday morning in a mountainous area in Badakhshan Province in the northeast of the country, Zabihullah Amiri, head of the provincial department of Information and Culture, told the agency. A search team has been deployed to the area, Amiri added.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation issued a statement on X, stating, "The unfortunate plane crash that has just occurred in Afghanistan is neither an Indian Scheduled Aircraft nor a Non-Scheduled (NSOP)/Charter aircraft. It is a Moroccan-registered small aircraft. More details are awaited."

The small charter jet en route to Moscow from India via Uzbekistan vanished from radar screens over Afghanistan on Saturday evening, prompting a search operation.

According to India Today, the aircraft was identified as a French-made Dassault Falcon 10 jet and was registered in Russia. Preliminary information suggests there were six people on board, comprising four crew members and two passengers.

No confirmed details on the plane type, crash cause, or casualties are available at this time.
