Israel Strikes Gaza Safe Zone, Charity Kitchen amid Ongoing Aid Blockade

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Israeli airstrike killed six civilians at a charity kitchen in Khan Younis and damaged a clinic in a designated “safe zone” in Gaza, as the humanitarian crisis deepens under Israel’s continuing blockade, according to aid organizations and the United Nations.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported that an Israeli attack struck near its clinic in al-Mawasi, an area previously designated by Israel as a safe zone.

Newly verified footage obtained by Al Jazeera showed the aftermath of an Israeli strike on a charity kitchen in Khan Younis on Monday, where six civilians had gathered to receive food.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the victims included humanitarian workers from MSF and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

The identified aid workers were Hussam Al Loulou, Mahdi Muhammad Muhammad Abu Subaih, and his wife Samira Ismail Ahmad Abdul Hadi.

Their deaths brought the total number of humanitarian staff killed in Gaza since the war began to at least 412, according to OCHA.

OCHA also reported the deaths of three Palestinian journalists in two separate incidents on April 6 and 7 in Khan Younis.

In the April 6 attack, journalist Islam Maqdad was killed along with seven others, including women and children.

On April 7, an Israeli strike on a media tent near Nasser Hospital resulted in the death of Helmi al-Faqawi, who burned to death, while journalist Ahmed Mansour died from his injuries the following day.

These deaths increased the number of media workers killed in Gaza to at least 208.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate stated that seven journalists were killed by Israeli forces in March, six of whom died in the field, while one was killed in his home.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres described Gaza as “a killing field” as Israeli attacks continued, killing at least 26 Palestinians on Tuesday.

Guterres accused Israel of violating its obligations under international law, citing Articles 55, 56, and 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The convention requires occupying powers to provide food and medical supplies to the civilian population and facilitate aid delivery when needed.

Guterres also called for an independent investigation into the killings of humanitarian workers, including UN staff.

When asked about US President Donald Trump’s reported plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza, Guterres stated his firm opposition.

“This would constitute a violation of international law,” he said.
