Asian Games: Iran Volleyball Team into Semis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian national volleyball team defeated Kuwait in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-14) in the 17th Asian Games on Wednesday.

The Iranian outfit booked a place in the semifinals.

Iran's Shahram Mahmoudi top scored with 13 points.

Iran has been scheduled to meet China at the Songnim Gymnasium on Thursday.

“We won an easy match but tomorrow we will have to play China. We will not take anything for granted,” Iran coach Slobodan Kovac said.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
