Asian Games: Iranian Women’s Team Storms into Kabaddi Final

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian women’s kabaddi team advanced to the final match of the 2014 Asian Games after thrashing Bangladesh.

Iran defeated Bangladesh 40-15 on Thursday. India thrashed Thailand 41-28 in other semis.

Iran will face powerhouse India at the Songdo Global University Gymnasiumin in Incheon, South Korea on Friday.

“We are well-prepared to defeat India. Iran deserves to win the gold medal,” Azam Maghsoodloo said.

“We played very well against Bangladesh and qualified for the final. Iran is better than India and we are ready to win the championship,” she added. 

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
