Iranian Disabled Athletes Celebrate Paralympic Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian athletes celebrated the National Paralympic Day in a special ceremony in the capital, Tehran, on Sunday.

The event, which was organized to promote para-sport, was held in Tehran’s Azadi Hall with the participation of about 10,000 disabled children.

Sir Philip Craven the President of the International Paralympic Committee sent a message of congratulation to the Iranian officials due to holding the commemoration ceremony.

Youth and Sports Minister Mahmoud Goudarzi, president of the Iran's National Olympic Committee (NOC) Kioomars Hashemi and president of Iran's National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Mahmoud Khosravivafa attended the ceremony.

The Iranian disabled athletes will fly to Incheon Sunday night to take part in the 2014 Asian Para games.
