Iran Commander Visits China’s Qingdao Naval Base

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari arrived in China’s eastern port city of Qingdao on Wednesday to visit a naval base in the city and hold talks with Chinese military officials.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Rear Admiral Sayyari arrived in Qingdao as the second leg of his China tour. The commander has already paid a visit to Shanghai.

During his stay in Qingdao, Sayyari is scheduled to visit the Chinese naval hardware stationed in the port city, including destroyers, frigates and submarines.

The Iranian commander will also hold meetings with ranking Chinese officers in that city.

According to Iran’s Navy, Sayyari’s tour of China is aimed at forging stronger military ties and promoting cooperation between Tehran and Beijing.

Qingdao is a major city in Shandong Province, east of China. It is a major seaport and industrial center and hosts a naval base as well.
