Israel Abusing Regional Terrorism to Intensify Atrocities in Palestine: Larijani
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s parliament speaker said Israel has taken advantage of a surge in the terrorist moves across the region to escalate its violent crimes against Palestinians and keep taking sacrilegious measures in the holy city of al-Quds.
“The Zionist regime gains the highest degree of benefit from the moves by the extremist and Takfiri groups in the region,” Ali Larijani said in a meeting with a group of Kuwaiti academics, held in Tehran on Sunday.
He also noted that the Tel Aviv regime abuses the terrorist groups in the region to “intensify its aggressive moves against the oppressed people of Palestine and to destroy the Islamic sites in the holy al-Quds.”
The statement came against the backdrop of simmering tensions in al-Quds after Israeli authorities prevented Palestinian worshippers from entering the al-Aqsa Mosque some two weeks ago and pressed ahead with plans to construct new settler units in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Israel reopened Al-Aqsa mosque compound for the Muslim Friday prayers, but restricted entry for Muslim men under the age of 50.
Al-Quds has been witnessing months of violence with al-Aqsa mosque compound standing as a rallying point for Palestinian resistance to the Israeli attempts to take control of the holy site.
