Larijani Hails Shared Views in Regional Tour

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Ali Larijani said on Friday that there are shared views among regional countries on major issues following his official visits to Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Elaborating on the outcomes of his six-day tour of regional countries, Larijani told reporters that he witnessed an intellectual convergence on major regional issues during his meetings with high-ranking officials of the countries.

He made the remarks upon his arrival at Mehrabad Airport in Iranian capital, Tehran.

Larijani referred to discussions on anti-terror campaign as one of the most important purposes behind the tour since Damascus, Beirut, and Baghdad are all engaged in the battle against terrorist groups.

Expansion of bilateral economic ties and providing the countries (in the region) with advanced industrial technologies were among other issues discussed during the visits, the Iranian speaker added.

The Iranian parliament speaker highlighted the role of Syria, Lebanon and Iraq in reinforcing the resistance line in the region and said fighting terrorism was one of the most important topics discussed in the talks with the countries senior officials.

As regards to his visit to Syria, the Iranian lawmaker slammed the (anti-Syria) media outlets for depicting a false image of the country and said that the security atmosphere there is less tense now.

He, however, mentioned that there are problems created by terrorist groups in some parts of the country and called for regional cooperation to settle the crisis.

Larijani also pointed to the situation in Lebanon and said the Lebanese army and resistance forces have already gained the upper hand in the battle against terrorist groups.

On his visit to Baghdad, the senior Iranian lawmaker also expressed satisfaction with the recent political stability and unity created in the country, and said he discussed the expansion of ties between Tehran and Baghdad.

The Iranian parliament speaker finally referred to his visit to Iraqi Kurdistan on Friday and said good mechanisms are fortunately in place for the reinforcement of fight against terrorism in the semi-autonomous region.
