Iran Keen to Boost Medical Cooperation with Iraq: Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei voiced Tehran’s preparedness to expand its cooperation with the neighboring Iraq in medical fields.
"Production of medicine is a field in which we can have good cooperation with Iraq since we are equipped with the technology for producing drugs,” Ali Rabiei said in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi Minister of Health Adilah Husayn in Tehran on Sunday evening.
Rabiei went on to say that Iran has already constructed a medicine production factory in the Republic of Azerbaijan and is ready to take the same move in Iraq.
He further referred to the country’s experiences in the field of providing social security for over 35 million Iranians, and expressed Tehran's preparedness to share the experiences with Baghdad.
Husayn, for her part, said Baghdad attaches significance to the issue of medicine, and added that Iraq has allocated $1.2 billion to the field.
The Iraqi official emphasized that the Arab country is open to Iranian investors in the field of medicine production factories, saying that the companies are welcomed to invest in Iraq.
Husayn expressed the hope that the mutual cooperation would expand in the fields of nursing, paramedics, and different types of surgeries.
Several Iranian and Iraqi officials have met in recent months to expand the mutual cooperation between the two neighboring countries in different fields such as economy, agriculture, transportation, sports, security, and defense.
