Basij Commander Reiterates Iran’s Regional Clout

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi highlighted Tehran’s high regional influence and said Iran has a big say in the region.

"In a bid to make decisions (about an issue), countries in the region are waiting to see Iranian officials' stance (on it)," Brigadier General Naqdi said here in Tehran today.

Pointing to the alliance of world powers to defeat the Iranian nation, the Basij commander said that, instead, they were defeated themselves.

"Now" Naqdi said "Tehran is deciding for the region."

Earlier, IRGC Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami had also pointed to Iran’s inspiring role in the region and said that many Muslim nations in the region have drawn inspiration from Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

Amid the tensions in Iraq, Iran is known as the first country to help the Arab country and has always voiced support for Iraq’s solidarity and prosperity.
