VP: Iran Ready to Share Scientific Experiences with Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri reiterated the country’s strong support for Iraq, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to share its experiences with the Arab country in various areas of science and technology.

“Iran enjoys numerous capabilities and experiences in the area of health, treatment and medical sciences and we support cooperation between the two countries’ health ministries,” Jahangiri said in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi Minister of Health Adilah Husayn in Tehran on Tuesday.

He also pointed to bilateral ties between the two countries in the area of trade, saying, “Tehran sees no limitation in its relations with Baghdad and we are ready to boost cooperation with the country in all economic spheres.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jahangiri congratulated the Iraqi minister on the victories of the Iraqi nation and army in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group.

He also expressed the hope that the clean-up operations would continue in Iraq until the elimination of the terrorist groups in the war-stricken country.

The Iraqi minister, for her part, emphasized that Baghdad attaches great significance to its relations with Tehran and is making efforts to preserve “the strategic ties”.

Iraq has been facing the growing threat of terrorism, mainly posed by the ISIL terrorist group.

The ISIL militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.

However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for fight against the militants, have blunted the edge of the ISIL offensive.

Amid tensions in Iraq, Iran is known as the first country to help the Arab country and has always voiced support for Iraq’s solidarity and prosperity.
