Ayatollah Khamenei Urges Focus on Interests of Muslims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Friday renewed the call for unity among Muslims, and stressed that focusing on the interest of the Islamic Ummah will consequently benefit each of the Muslim nations.

“If the Muslim nations, with such enormous possibilities and unique features, establish rapport and speak with one voice, not regarding details but in general stances, the progress and excellence of the Islamic Ummah will be guaranteed,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on Friday.

The Leader made the comments in a gathering of Iranian people, officials as well as Muslim clerics and scholars that have attended the 28th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The Supreme Leader also deeply regretted implementation of divisive plots hatched by the enemies of Islam.

Cautioning against the attempts by the Western “spy and intelligence” agencies to create rift among Muslims, Ayatollah Khamenei called on the Sunni and Shiite Muslims to refrain from insulting each other and from being suspicious.

“That specific Shiitism that has links with Britain’s MI6 and that Sunnism which is mercenary of the CIA are both against Islam and against the Prophet (Muhammad),” Imam Khamenei explained.

The Supreme Leader further described as a “big mistake” the foreign policy that certain regional states have adopted to oppose Iran.

“In contrast to such unwise policies, the Islamic Republic continues to pursue its foreign policy on the basis of friendship and fraternity with all Islamic countries, including the regional governments,” the Leader added.
