Iran Resolved to Use Nuclear Technology in All Fields: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) voiced the country’s determination to press ahead with its peaceful nuclear program and employ that technology in all other fields.

In an interview with the Tasnim News Agency, Ali Akbar Salehi extolled the benefits of nuclear technology, saying more progress in that field reduces Iran’s dependence on the countries that claim to be technology owners.

He hailed Iran’s peaceful nuclear program as a major factor in the country’s might and glory at the domestic and international levels, saying Tehran is at the same time involved in “constructive interaction” with the world to resolve ambiguities on its civilian nuclear activities.

“Preserving independence and national dignity is not possible without paying a price,” he said of the cruel sanctions imposed on Iran over its peaceful nuclear program, adding that countries should defend their stance and rights at the international circles.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are now in nuclear talks with the aim of hammering out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Negotiating teams from Iran and the US are slated to hold bilateral meetings in the Swiss city from January 15 to 17.

Later on January 18, Iran and the group of six world powers (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) will resume talks at the deputy ministerial level.
