Riyadh to Help Establish Al-Qaeda Emirate in Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Takfiri groups backed by Riyadh are planning to establish an “Al-Qaeda Emirate” in one of the Yemeni provinces.

According to Tasnim dispatches, they intend to establish an Al-Qaeda Emirate (principality) in the Yemeni province of Ma'rib with direct support from Saudi Arabia.

More than 10,000 armed Takfiri militants have been deployed from all over Yemen to Nakhla and al-Sahel camps in the northeastern province near the Saudi border.

Tribal leaders and army officers who had previously fled to Saudi Arabia are also reportedly back in Yemen to join the Takfiris with Saudi backing.

In response, popular committees, revolutionary forces and volunteers from Ma’rib Province are preparing to confront the Takfiri militants.

Yemen's Shiite Ansarullah movement has asked the government to take immediate action to drive the Takfiris out of the country.

President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi, meanwhile, has set up a committee to negotiate with the Takfiris. The committee is tasked with persuading them to lay down their weapons and leave the area but experts believe the negotiations will fail due to Saudi Arabia’s insistence on provoking a conflict.

Saudi Arabia has reportedly been supporting armed Takfiri militants in a bid to take control of Yemen.

Fractious Yemen has remained in the throes of turmoil since the ouster of long-serving President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012.
