Iranian Students Protest over Desecration of Prophet Muhammad

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A large group of Iranian students on Monday staged rally in front of the French Embassy in Tehran to protest against the sacrilegious cartoons recently published by the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, featuring Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During the rally, students chanted “Allah is Great” and carried placards of “I Love Muhammad” to voice their anger at the disrespectful cartoons published by the French satirical magazine.

A large number of Iranian people also attended the gathering in the Iranian capital.

Muslim communities all over the world have already staged rallies to protest the desecration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The French magazine's latest cover shows Prophet Muhammad with a tear in his eye, under the headline "All is forgiven". He holds a sign reading "Je Suis Charlie" (I Am Charlie), the slogan that has become a global rallying cry in solidarity with the victims of recent terror attack in France.

Millions of copies of the new edition of the satirical magazine were sold out this week in the wake of a January 7 attack on the office of the French Weekly in Paris, in which 12 people were killed.

The French weekly has repeatedly provoked Muslim anger by publishing offensive cartoons featuring Prophet Muhammad.
