Speaker Urges Muslim Alliance against Israel

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Muslims need to join hands to counter Israel, after the Tel Aviv regime killed a number of Hezbollah members and an IRGC general in Syria.

“The issue of the Zionist regime’s interference in Syria is an important sign that they (Israelis) seek to pressurize the Islamic countries through conspiracy,” Larijani said in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Larijani called on the Muslim countries to stand against Israel’s acts of aggression with a “united voice”.

His comments came after six Hezbollah members and an Iranian IRGC commander, who was in Syria on an advisory mission, were killed in an airstrike launched by an Israeli gunship helicopter near Syria’s southwestern city of Quneitra on Sunday.

The Iranian speaker is in Turkey to attend the 10th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC).

The Turkish parliament speaker, Cemil Cicek, for his part, expressed the hope that the PUIC meeting would address the major problems of the Islamic countries.

He stressed that foreign interference does not help settle the regional conflicts, warning that the Western countries want to add fuel to the flames of trivial tensions among Muslims.

The 9th session of the PUIC was held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in February 2014 with representatives from nearly 50 countries in attendance.
