Iranians to Hold Rallies to Protest Sacrilegious Cartoon
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Nationwide rallies will be held in Iran after this week’s Friday prayers to protest a recent sacrilegious cartoon published by the French magazine, Charlie Hebdo, depicting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Iranian people will attend protest rallies in the capital, Tehran, and other cities across the country on Friday after prayers.
Protesters will condemn the insulting cartoon by Charlie Hebdo.
Earlier on Monday, a large group of Iranian students staged rally in front of the French Embassy in Tehran to protest against the sacrilegious cartoons.
A large number of Iranian people also attended the said gathering in the Iranian capital.
Meanwile, Muslim communities all over the world have staged rallies to protest the desecration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The French magazine's latest cover shows Prophet Muhammad with a tear in his eye, under the headline "All is forgiven". He holds a sign reading "Je Suis Charlie" (I Am Charlie), the slogan that has become a global rallying cry in solidarity with the victims of recent terror attack in France.
The French weekly has repeatedly provoked Muslim anger by publishing offensive cartoons featuring Prophet Muhammad.
