Tim Cahill Sends Australian into Asian Cup Semis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Former Everton winger Tim Cahill scored twice against China to lead host Australia into the semi-final.

On Thursday, Cahill took it upon himself to calm Australia in the 49th minute and sixteen minutes later, he scored again, killing off China’s hopes of going any further at Brisbane’s Lang Park.

Already Australia’s all-time top scorer, Cahill’s brace lifted his international tally to 39 goals from 80 appearances.

Earlier in the day, South Korea defeated Uzbekistan 2-0 in extra time.

The Australians will now play either Japan or the United Arab Emirates in next week’s semi-finals. South Korea will face Iran or Iraq in the other semi.
