Iran, Italy Discuss Cooperation in Relief, Rescue Operations

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRSC), in a meeting with the visiting head of the Italian Red Cross, explored avenues for the promotion of mutual cooperation between the two sides, especially in the area of rescue and relief operations.

In the meeting with Francesco Rocha in Tehran on Tuesday, Seyed Amir Mohsen Ziaee described the experiences of the Italian Red Cross, particularly in the area of sea rescue, and said “We will make every effort to promote the level of cooperation more than ever.”

He also emphasized that Iran and Italy as members of the international community should be responsive to global crises and disasters and help resolve them by joint efforts.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ziaee said the IRSC is one of the active members of the Governing Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

“Iran has been recognized as one of the biggest countries, which provide rescue services and dispatch relief forces at time of crises at the international level,” he said.

He went on to say that there is a good image of the IRSC in the world, adding that the society tries its hardest to boost cooperation with all international societies.
