Iranian MP Highlights Reinforcement of Trade Ties with Kyrgyzstan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iran-Kyrgyzstan Parliamentary Friendship Group said on Saturday that Tehran and Bishkek can further expand their trade ties by developing means of transportation.

Heading a parliamentary delegation, the Iranian lawmaker Ali Kaeidi is in Kyrgyzstan’s capital to explore avenues for expanding bilateral parliamentary ties between Tehran and Bishkek.

In a meeting with Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication in Bishkek, Kaeidi said that promotion of economic cooperation between Iran and Kyrgyzstan should top the agenda of the two governments.

Trade turnover between the two countries needs to be increased, the Iranian MP stressed, highlighting the role of transportation in boosting bilateral trade.

“Development of transportation means in the two countries has a direct influence on improving the level of bilateral trade ties,” Kaeidi said.

The Kyrgyz official, for his part, hailed the trade and economic capacities of the two countries, and expressed Kyrgyz government’s willingness to cooperate with Iran in the fields of science and technology.

Earlier last year, Iranian President Rouhani in a message to Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev pointed to the good record of bilateral relations between Tehran and Bishkek, expressing the hope that the two countries' cooperation in all spheres would be promoted more than ever.

The Republic of Kyrgyzstan, is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordering Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It obtained independence from the Soviet Union on August 31, 1991.
