Leader’s Message Appealing to Most American Youths: Journalist

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An American journalist and activist described as “wonderful” the recent letter by the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution to Western youths, saying that it would appeal to most young Americans.

On January 21, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei wrote a letter asking the European and North American youths not to judge Islam based on the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.

In his letter, Imam Khamenei urged Western youths to try to gain a direct and firsthand knowledge of the religion in reaction to the flood of prejudgments and disinformation campaigns.

In a Tuesday interview with the Tasnim News Agency, Alison Weir, an American journalist heading the Council for the National Interest, described the letter as a “fatherly” message that does not try to convert its audiences, but tries to reach directly to the youth to understand what the true Islam is.

“It is a wise piece of advice to young people to go to the source, to learn about it, to have an open mind, learn the real facts, study it for yourself, and don’t let others tell you something,” she explained.

She also expressed the hope that the letter would reach its audiences in Europe and the US, saying, “Luckily most youths in America do want to learn the truth, so the letter would appeal to them.”
