Naft Deserved to Beat Al-Ain, Coach Mansourian Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Naft Tehran coach Alireza Mansourian said that his team deserved to win against Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League.

Naft Tehran football team was held to a 1-1 draw by Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates in Group B of the AFC Champions League on Tuesday.

Siamak Kouroshi gave Naft the lead in the 50th minute but eight minutes later former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan equalize the match from the penalty spot.

“Al-Ain came here to get one point and I congratulate them. I am proud of my players because of their good performance in the second half,” Naft coach Mansourian said in the post match news conference.

“I think Al-Ain was the lucky team in the match and I have to say we deserved to defeat them,” he added.

“I think the referee was mistake due to awarding them a penalty because it was not handball,” Mansourian stated.

Naft Tehran will host Al-Shabab on March 18 in Tehran.
