TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini in a telephone conversation talked about the latest developments in the course of nuclear talks between Iran and six major world powers.

The Iranian foreign minister is in Switzerland’s Montreux for bilateral talks with Americans as part of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany).

EU’s Mogherini, who coordinates diplomacy with Iran on behalf of the six powers, had announced earlier that “spreading fears” about an emerging deal on Iran’s nuclear program is “not helpful at this stage.”

On Tuesday, Iranian and US negotiators concluded the second day of talks in Montreux, with top diplomats including Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry in attendance.

The meetings also saw Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi, US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, and Deputy Secretary General for the European Union's External Action Service Helga Schmid

Iran’s top negotiator Zarif announced on Monday that the new round of nuclear talks in Switzerland has provided a good opportunity for him and his US counterpart to discuss ways on a speedy removal of sanctions imposed on Tehran over its peaceful nuclear program.

A plenary session involving Iran and the six powers will be held on March 5.
