DM: Iran to Unveil New Advanced Vessels Soon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan on Monday announced that the country plans to unveil a number of state-of-the-art vessels in the near future.

“By year end  (March 20), a series of Iran’s highly advanced vessels will be unveiled and another series of vessels will be unveiled early in the next (Iranian) year,” General Dehqan said in an interview with the Tasnim News Agency.

He also pointed to Iran’s new destroyer “Damavand”, which officially joined the naval fleet on Monday, and said the warship has been completely manufactured by the Iranian experts and can help neighboring countries ensure security in the Caspian Sea.

The commander at the same time emphasized that Damavand coveys “the message of peace and friendship” to neighbors.

Damavand is a Jamaran-class destroyer with unique features to meet the demands of the Iranian naval forces in the country’s northern waters.

The advanced destroyer is capable of tracking the aerial, surface and sub-surface targets simultaneously.

More than 700 industrial, research and academic Iranian centers cooperated in designing and producing the military vessel, which is also a training warship.

Experts at Iran’s Defense Ministry have installed 25 homegrown electronics and communication systems on Damavand, including advanced naval radars and systems for communications, detection and interception.
