“The Republic of Tatarstan is eager to promote its relations with Iran in diverse areas, especially the cooperation between the private sectors of the two sides and to that end, a delegation of 45 officials from private and public sectors is accompanying me,” Rustam Minnikhanov told Mohammad Javad Zarif during the meeting held on Monday evening.

He also appreciated the mutual understanding between the presidents of Iran and Russia regarding the promotion of relations between Iran’s various provinces and the Republic of Tatarstan.

He said Kazan and Iran’s northwestern city of Tabriz have close ties and many reciprocal visits have been made by the two sides’ officials.

During the meeting, Zarif described relations between Iran and the Russian Federation, including Tatarstan as “extensive”, and said Tehran is ready to cooperate with Kazan in various fields.

The Iranian minister further stressed the importance of efforts to boost cultural and academic relations between the two sides.
