Iran Non-Oil Exports Hit Record High: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The exports of Iran’s non-oil products have hit a record high, President Hassan Rouhani announced, noting that such success has been achieved despite sanctions imposed on Iran.

Speaking at the last session of the cabinet in the current Iranian year on Wednesday, President Rouhani said the country exported around $50 billion worth of non-oil goods in the Iranian year of 1393, which ends on Friday.

“Despite the sanctions and reduction in oil price, the Iranian nation achieved big successes in different arenas,” he added.

In foreign policy, Iran managed to improve its relations with the neighbors.

He said the volume of trade exchanges in certain fields will double in value.

He also hailed the country’s handling of nuclear talks with six world powers.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

With the Iranian new year holiday of Nowrouz approaching this week, Iranian and American diplomats have launched a decisive round of diplomacy in the Swiss city of Lausanne since Sunday to pave the way for a landmark nuclear accord ahead of a June 30 deadline.
