Asian Women's Handball Championship: Iran Comes Sixth

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Iranian national handball team finished in sixth place in the Asian Women's Handball Championship on Sunday.

The Iranian team lost to South Korea (60-11) and Japan (40-11) and beat India 42-24 in Pool A.

Iran defeated Hong Kong 22-14 and lost to Uzbekistan 30-18 at the Popki Sport Hall, Jakarta, Indonesia and finished in sixth place.

Japan and South Korea will play in the final match on Monday and Kazakhstan will face China in the third place match.

The Asian Handball Nations Championship is the official competition for senior national handball teams of Asia, and takes place every two years.

In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Championship, which will be held in Denmark.
