Iranian Official: All Elements Behind Terror Attacks in Southeastern Province Arrested

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Governor-General of Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan Ali Owsat Hashemi said all of the elements behind recent terrorist attacks in the province are in custody now.

"All of those involved in terrorist attacks that took place in the region from 2007 to 2014 have been identified and arrested," Hashemi told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony in commemoration of the late mother of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran on Wednesday.

He further pointed to the detention of perpetrators of the abduction and murder of Jamshid Danaeifar, an Iranian border guard kidnapped by a Pakistan-based terrorist group in February 2014, saying that the detained terrorists have confessed to killing the border guard.

The governor-general said the body of Martyr Danaeifar was identified in the month of Esfand (February 20- March 20) when Iranian security forces inflicted a heavy blow to the terrorists in the region.

Danaeifar, along with four other Iranian border guards, was kidnapped on February 6, 2014, by a Pakistani-based terrorist group named Jaish-ul-Adl.

They were abducted in Jakigour region in Sistan and Balouchestan province and taken to Pakistan.

Four of the five abductees were released and returned home after being held hostage for two months.

On March 23, 2014, Jaish-ul-Adl announced in a Twitter message that it had killed Danaeifar but the terrorist group provided no evidence to confirm its claim. The four released border guards said at the time that Danaeifar had been separated from them for nearly a month.
