Iran Olympic Team to Wear Black Armbands in Memory of Journalists

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran Olympic football team will wear black armbands and observe a minute's silence before its match against Palestine on Friday in memory of the two Iranian journalists who died in the Alps air crash on Tuesday.

The German jetliner en route from Barcelona, Spain, to Düsseldorf, Germany, plunged from the sky and slammed into the French Alps, killing all 150 people on board.

Two Iranian sports journalists - Milad Hojjatoleslami and Hossein Javadi - had covered a Real Madrid - FC Barcelona fixture and were on their way to Austria to watch the Iranian national team play Chile.

Iran will face Palestine on Friday in Group C of the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers in Tehran's Azadi Stadium.

Iran senior football team also observed a minute's silence before its friendly match against Chile held in Austria Thursday night.
