Over 2,000 Died Due to Swine Flu in India Since January

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Over 2,000 people have died of swine flu in India since January this year, a senior Health Ministry official said Saturday.

"A total of 2,011 people have died of swine flu in the past three months while the number of people affected by the virus is 33,462," the official said, on condition of anonymity.

The western state of Gujarat has recorded the highest death toll of 424, followed by 411 in the northern state of Rajasthan an 385 in the western state of Maharashtra, he said.

In the national capital, some 12 people have succumbed to the disease so far, the official said, adding that all government hospitals have adequate medicines to deal with swine flu patients, Xinhua reported.
