Serbia's FM to Visit Iran Monday

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic will arrive in Tehran on Monday for an official visit that would include meetings with a number of high-ranking Iranian officials.

Heading a political delegation, the top Serbian diplomat is going to meet with a number of Iranian political, parliamentary and industrial officials during his 3-day stay in Iran.

Among the issues to be discussed in the meetings will be Tehran-Belgrade political ties, the status of Iran-Serbia Joint Economic Commission, and the next gathering of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Dacic is also scheduled to visit some of Iran's scientific and industrial centers.

The Serbian foreign minister also serves as the chairperson of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

His forthcoming visit follows the finalization of a comprehensive deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) over Tehran's nuclear program.

The promising prospect of trade with Iran has prompted major European countries to explore the market potential in the populous Middle East nation.

Last week, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said conclusion of nuclear talks with world powers has given Tehran the option to take its pick from the many parties seeking economic cooperation with Iran, including impatient Western countries.

"European foreign ministers are queueing up to travel to Iran, but it does not mean that we'll offer whatever they would want. Rather, it is us who have the choice," Araqchi had explained.
