Global Resolve Needed for Fighting Terrorism: Iran’s First VP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri underscored the need for a resolve at the international level to fight terrorism and extremism.

The battle against terrorism and extremism needs the determination of all countries around the globe, he stressed in a Saturday meeting with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, adding that the Islamic Republic is ready to offer any “necessary help” and support to that end.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the International Neutrality Conference in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Jahangiri said Croatia can also play an important role in fighting against terrorism and settling the crises.

He further said that the only solution to the crises plaguing countries like Syria and Yemen is adopting a political approach.

Grabar-Kitarovic, for her part, underscored the need for joint cooperation between Tehran and Zagreb to fight against terrorist groups, particularly the Daesh (ISIL) Takfiri terrorist group.

She emphasized that educational and cultural development is an appropriate approach to combat terrorism and violence.

Grabar-Kitarovic further expressed the hope that she would visit Tehran as soon as possible in an attempt to further develop ties between the two nations.
